It is one of the best political thrillers in recent times. The film has been written and directed by Selvaraghavan. It stars Suriya, Sai Pallavi, and RakulPreet Singh in lead roles. SivakumarVijayan‘s work as the cinematographer is plausible. Yuvan Shankar Raja has added some mesmerizing melodies. NGK(NandhaKumaran Gopala) was released in Tamil on 31st May 2019 along with the Telugu version, whose streaming rights were given to Aha. It has a total runtime of 148 minutes.
Plot :
Kumaran(Suriya) is a social worker and patriot who wants to do something good for his country. He left his high-profile job to help other people. He lives with his family, which consists of his mother, Viji(Uma Padmanabhan), his father,Ramanan(Nizhalgal Ravi), and his wife, GeethaKumari (Sai Pallavi). He helps the people with his organic farming, but some vendors dispute with him over it. One day, he meets his old friend Raja(Rajkumar), who has become an important associate of the local MLA, while trying to solve a problem between the village youngsters. He is amazed after seeing that his friend’s single phone call to the District Councilor solves the dispute, which he couldn’t solve. After that, the vendors give the people doing organic farming but they don’t listen. So the vendors attack the people and then burn their farms. A native who wants to make things good for both sides suggests Kumaran go and ask a local MLA for help. The MLA Pandiyan(Ilavarasu) is a despicable person who will help only if Kumaran joins his party KMK with 500 members from the village. And he complies to it forcefully. The MLA ill-treats Kumaran and, from here on we see a change in his personality. With the determination to become an important political figure, what will Kumaran do?
